Senior police officer dismissed in J&K
Srinagar, June 06: In the first incident of its type, Jammu and Kashmir government has dismissed from service a senior police officer, wanted in a triple murder case, for absence from duty for over four years, sources said today.

Abdul Rashid Khan alias Rashid Billa, sub-divisional police officer, Soura police station, who is missing since November 27, 1999 has been dismissed from service on account of his unauthorised absence from duty, the sources said.
A formal order to this effect was issued by the director general of police Gopal Sharma last evening, the sources said.
The official who was posted as SDPO, Soura, went missing on November 27, 1999 soon after he arrested three persons when they were returning home after attending a marriage ceremony. All the three arrested persons were allegedly killed in custody. While body of one of the victim was picked up from Dal Lake, the bodies of two others were recovered from Sheeri in Baramulla district. Bureau Report
