New Delhi, Oct 05: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee tonight strongly condemned Israeli attack on a militant training camp in Syria. "We strongly condemn it (Israeli action). The cycle of violence and counter-violence should stop," he told reporters here before leaving for Indonesia and Thailand on a seven-day visit.

"Agreement has been reached and there is need to move forward on that," Vajpayee said when referred to the Israeli action and asked whether India was also thinking about action on those lines.
The Israeli Army attacked an Islamic jihad training base in Syria in retaliation for a suicide bombing at a Haifa restaurant that killed 19 people.

The attack took place at a training base deep in Syrian territory used by several terrorists organizations including Islamic Jihad, Israeli Army said in a statement.
Israel radio said the attack hit the Ein Saher camp.

Islamic jihad, a militant Palestinian group responsible for many attacks against Israel, enjoys support from other countries, including Iran and Syria, the statement said.
