Srinagar, June 14: Two more Jammu and Kashmir cops
have been arrested for their alleged involvement in attacks on
security forces, taking the number of policemen in custody to
four, police said today.
Incharge of Zechaldara-Handwara Police Post, sub-inspector
Abdul Ahad, and head constable Farooq Ahmad Indrabi, posted at Kantpora-Lolab under Sogam police station, were taken into
custody by counter intelligence.
The fresh arrests follows handing over of the case to
counter intelligence, sources said.
Asi Ghulam Rasool Wani, station house officer at Sogam and Abdul Ahad, a Nunshi, were arrested on June 6 for their involvement in a foiled Fidayeen attack on Lalpora police station on June 3.
Wani and Ahad confessed of their involvement in the attack and another strike recently on CRPF personnel in which two jawans were killed and four injured, the sources said.
The policemen had accompanied a militant to the police station few days before the attack to familiarise him with the area and facilitated his movement around security frisking points.
The Fidayeen attack was foiled by police personnel who could even snatch a rifle from the militant. But the suspect managed to flee taking cover of the large number of civilians.
The cops would be charged with murder, waging war against the country and harbouring militants, sources said.
