Shimla, Aug 08: At least 25 people have been killed and 40 injured in a flash flood caused by cloudburst at Solan Nallah, 22 kms from Manali in Kullu district early this morning. About 40 persons were injured, four of them seriously. The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Manali, police sources said.
Another 50 people have gone missing, feared to have been washed away.
Most of the victims were BSF jawans engaged in the construction of Rohtang tunnel project. Senior police and district officials have reached the site and rescue operations were in full swing.
In another cloudburst at Kotkhai, 60 kms from Shimla, a bus stand, three buses and a truck were washed away, the sources said.
The Shimla-Jubbel Road was also washed away near Kotkhai and link road to several places in Kotkhai area were also washed away in the floods. Rohroo and Jubbel have been cut off from the district headquarter. Bureau Report
