Jammu, May 18: Security forces today shot dead four militants in a fierce gunbattle in Rajouri district, official sources said. An encounter took place between militants and security forces in Kandi-Budhal area of Rajouri district where troops launched cordon and search operation.

In the ensuing encounter lasting three hours, four militants were killed, the sources said adding two of them have been identified as Abu Harris and Saifullah, both belonging to Pakistan.

Four AK rifles, its 16 magazines, ten hand grenades and three radio sets were recovered from the spot.

Meanwhile, one improvised explosive device was recovered and defused by the troops in Gul area of Udhampur district today, the sources said.
