New Delhi, June 20: Hitting out at Pakistan
President Pervez Musharraf for his "provocative" statement
threatening India with the use of nuclear weapons, Congress
today asked the government to be cautious while dealing with
him.
"Musharraf's statement is unwarranted, provocative and
has come at a time when India has taken the initiative for
resumption of dialogue and improvement of environment in the
sub-continent", party spokesman Anand Sharma told reporters.
He said that government needed to be cautious over
dealing with Musharraf and military leaders of Pakistan who
repeatedly shift positions on issues like cross border
terrorism.
Stating that while the Congress was for a constructive
dialogue with Islamabad, he said at the same time, "we do
expect government to remain alert about the possible
pitfalls".
