New Delhi, Spet 01: The Supreme Court will hear a petition filed by Aslam Bhure in the Ayodhya case challenging Chief Minister Mayawati's notification of September 2002. The public interest litigation wants the apex court to quash the decision and direct that Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, BJP leader Uma Bharti and others be tried along with kar sevaks in the Lucknow special court.
The case against the senior was being held in a separate trial in Raibareilly. The notification had in effect let off the senior leaders from charges of conspiracy.

The focus will also be on the new state Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, who will also have to clear his stand on whether a separate trial should be held or not.

The BJP has cautioned Mulayam against reverting Mayawati's decision.
"It is a political case and he would go into exile again as had happened earlier in 1995 after his second term as Chief Minister if he repeats what he had done earlier," said BJP Spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

The party wants Mulayam as chief minister when the VHP gets going with its temple movement. A conflict, which would not have been possible if the state, was under presidents rule.
The party expects Mulayam to weaken the BSP. Once that is done, they claim the Hindu card will help it get the votes of Dalits and the upper castes.

"The Ayodhya agenda helped us increase 15 per cent of the vote share. So the BJP worker, who had been demoralised all these days, is finally celebrating. Crackers are being burst across villages, it feels like Diwali," said Ram Iqbal Singh, party MLA.
