London: Salma Hayek, Aishwarya Rai and Parker Posey lead the call for greater equality in films at a summit in Cannes.

The stars along with some key female producers shared their own experiences of industry sexism at the forum organised by trade magazine Variety and UN Women's HeForShe campaign, the Guardian reported.


Commenting on the issue, Hayek said that cinema undermines women's intelligence and they don't see them as a powerful economic force. It's incredible ignorance and Hollywood doesn't have this business vision.


The 48-year-old star added that her experiences battling prejudice against Hispanic people has taught her that one colour Hollywood doesn't ignore is green as it is only money that people in power care about.


Posey, who co-stars in Woody Allen's 'Irrational Man', suggested that far for being in a progressive era they live in very masculine times and the culture is eating nature and its overpowering storytelling.


Christine Vachon, the veteran producer giving her views said that funding for projects was still based on ridiculous systems determined by the apparent value of the male stars.
