New Delhi, May 27: Finance Minister Jaswant Singh today said there was a need to revive social responsibilities towards use and sharing of water and the government would support successful planning and implementation of water projects. "Loss of our relationship with water has been the root cause of our water problem," Singh said here addressing the CII seminar on 'water management'.
There was a need to revive the social responsibilities towards water, he said, adding that in the pre-British days, the communities enjoyed social ownership and collective responsibility in the use and sharing of water resources.
He said the Finance Ministry would extend all support in the successful planning and implementation of water project.
Minister of water resources Arjun Charan Sethi said that as a special incentive, water projects had been exempted from all duties.
