New Delhi, Dec 24: People working in roadside dhabas, small hotels and other eatery joints would be given basic training in service and other areas by institutes of hotel management and food crafts institutes as part of the government's effort to upgrade skills in the unorganised tourism sector.
Under the tourism ministry's new scheme of 'capacity building for service providers' professional institutes both in the government and private sector would impart training to these people spread around the places of tourist interest with the objective of enhancing service quality and delivery.
The training would primarily focus on service skills, etiquette and basic manners, health and personal hygiene, cleanliness and garbage disposal. Lessons on cooking, energy and nutrition saving techniques would also be given.
The sources said a large population of workers servicing tourists in the unorganised tourism sector could make a difference and help increase consumer satisfaction and trigger repeat travel.
They said mobile training facilities were also being set up so that training of service providers was available at their doorstep. Bureau Report
