Srinagar, Nov 05: Senior leader of the breakaway faction of Hurriyat Conference, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, was today released by a court here revoking his detention under Public Safety Act (PSA), official sources said.
Srinagar, Nov 05: Senior leader of the breakaway faction of Hurriyat Conference, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, was today released by a court here revoking his detention under Public Safety Act (PSA), official sources said.
Rashid, general secretary of Muslim League, was released by the district and sessions court after the government decided to revoke PSA invoked against him after his arrest on August 4, 2001 from his Botakadal-Lalbazar residence, the sources said.
They said Rashid had been briefly released for 20 days on health grounds in June this year, but he was re-arrested on July 2, 2003.
He was immediately whisked away by his party supporters to the Hyderpora residence of rebel Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
