New Delhi, Oct 07: A day after the dates are announced for assembly elections, the CBI today chargesheeted Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi for allegedly forging documents. While the BJP has demanded the immediate resignation of the Chief Minister, the Congress has termed the timing of the chargesheet as highly suspicious. The CBI's move to chargesheet Jogi has come after a sequence of events since March this year.

In March, Jogi had written to Prime Minister Vajpayee that the Intelligence Bureau had launched an operation called 'Black Sea' against him to frame him for corruption.
The IB document, according to him, said that he had siphoned off money to a Swiss bank. The document also alleged he had acquired property in Delhi, Mumbai and Dehradun, disproportionate to his assets.
Prime Minister Vajpayee then asked the CBI to investigate the case.
The CBI has found that the IB document Jogi sent to the Prime Minister was forged, which has led to his being chargesheeted.
There are two other cases against Jogi in the Shahdol and Bilaspur courts for using a fake Scheduled Tribe certificate to contest elections. Bureau Report
