Dhaka, June 26: Over 50 Bangladeshi fishermen were killed when their boats capsized after being caught in a storm in the Bay of Bengal, a survivor said today. About 53 fishermen aboard five fishing trawlers died when their boats sank on Sunday, Badshah, who survived by holding onto a raft for two days until he was rescued by a passing vessel was quoted as saying in local daily 'Ittefaq'.
However, authorities could not confirm the exact number of dead.

According to delayed information reaching the district quarter, seven out of 12 fishermen of trawler Suvajatra-1 are confirmed dead. Golam Motafa Chowdhury, president Pathargata trawlers owners society said yesterday that 36 fishermen in three trawlers remained missing till yesterday and presumed dead.
Besides in there is no information about ten fishermen in another trawler Sagar-1, the newspaper report said.
Meanwhile, two persons have drowned in floods following incessant rain in the country.

The weatherman, has meanwhile, forecasted that floods are likely to hit the country by middle July.
