Australia pick Tait to replace Lee in Sri Lanka
Melbourne, Mar 11: Uncapped young fast bowler Shaun Tait will replace the injured Brett Lee on Australia`s tour of Sri Lanka, Cricket Australia (CA) announced today.
The 27-year-old new South Wales Paceman had the Sri Lankans
ducking and weaving to avoid his sheer speed during last year's
World Cup. Captain Ricky Ponting had been counting on lee as a key
weapon in the current three-Test Series.
''But I think that's a good thing. If you get hardened in your
first game, it will hopefully set you up for the rest of your
career.''
Tait was chosen ahead of the more experienced trio Glenn Mcgrath,
who has struggled to overcome an ankle problem, left-armer Nathan
bracken and Andy Bichel.
''We have selected him specifically as a like-replacement for
Brett Lee who was the quickest bowler in our touring line-up,''
Hohns said in the ca statement.
