Water level rises to dangerous level in Tehri dam
Tehri (Uttaranchal), June 04: The water level in the controversial Tehri dam reservoir today rose to a dangerous 642 mt level inundating several low-lying areas of the historic old Tehri town triggering panic among people.
Tehri (Uttaranchal), June 04: The water level in the controversial Tehri dam reservoir today rose to a dangerous 642 mt level inundating several low-lying areas of the historic old Tehri town triggering panic among people.
The rise in water level submerged the only bridge connecting old Tehri town with the world. The town is still home to 175 families.
There was no word forthcoming from district authorities on the alarming rise in the water level which stood at 638 mtrs yesterday.
The town built by Maharaja Sudershan Shah in 1815, is likely to be submerged in the reservoir once the 2400 mw Tehri project is completed.
