London, Sept 27: The British economy picked up steam in the three months to June, revised official figures showed Friday. The figures, given in a third and final estimate by the National Statistics office, showed gross domestic product rose by 0.6 per cent in the June quarter from the first quarter to end March, unchanged from a second estimate released last month.

That marked a significant pick up from the previous two quarters when the economy flirted with recession as consecutive quarterly growth rates of 0.1 per cent dragged the annual rate down to 1.1 per cent in the first quarter -- its lowest level in a decade.

National Statistics raised its estimate of the year-on-year second-quarter growth rate to 1.3 per cent from 1.2 per cent previously. Bureau Report
