Mumbai: Sanjay Dutt is likely to walk a free man tomorrow after serving a jail term of 42-months in Pune's Yerwada Jail.
Sanjay, son of late actor-politician Sunil Dutt, will walk out of the jail with just Rs 450.
The actor who worked as a semi-skilled-worker made paper bags and earned Rs 50 per day. He had earned over Rs 38,000 over a period of five years but had spent a lot during his stay in the jail, a report in Times of India suggested.
"The actor should have received at least Rs 38,000 but he has already spent much of the amount on buying daily use items from the jail canteen. The balance to be paid to him is just Rs 450," The TOI quoted a source as saying.
The Bollywood actor was convicted by the Supreme Court of India in 2013 under the Arms Act for possessing a prohibited weapon in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. Sanjay had already served 18 months of his sentence as an undertrial at Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail earlier.
