Raipur, July 19: A day after leader of Opposition in Chattisgarh assembly alleged his daughter had been kidnapped by Chief Minister Ajit Joji, Priyam Sai today joined Congress accusing BJP of being "anti-tribal". "BJP is anti-tribal.. Only Sonia Gandhi and Ajit Jogi can protect the tribals. That is why I am quitting BJP and joining Congress," she said.
PCC spokesman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi told, Priyam Sai and her husband Iswar Sai have joined Congress and "they are safe".
Leader of Opposition Nand Kumar Sai had last night staged a sit-in inside a police station here alleging that Priyam, her husband and son had been kidnapped from their house in Garihat village of Jeshpur district by one Mohan Sai and that Jogi and his son were behind it.
Demanding registration of an FIR, he also alleged that Jogi was pressuring them to join Congress and that he feared threat to their lives.
Denying that he pressurised Priyam and had her kidnapped, Jogi said, "I have never met her. Where does the question of pressuring her arise."
He said Sai and her husband had joined Congress on their own and that Nand Kumar was levelling the allegations as the development had take place when the BJP national executive was meeting in the state capital.
Meanwhile, Nand Kumar Sai called off the dharna after speaking to Governor Lt Gen K M Seth on the phone early this morning. Bureau Report
