Srinagar, Aug 27: At least 30 activists of separatist organisations including ten women were taken into preventive custody when four constituents of Hurriyat Conference staged protest demonstrations at three places in the city before Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's arrival here today, official sources said. Raising anti Prime Minister slogans, JKLF and Awami action committee jointly staged a demonstration at Maisuma, while Kashmir mass movement and Muslim Khawateen Markaz took out small processions at Budshah Chowk.
Police took into custody 30 activists of the organisations including Firda Bhanji chairperson of Kashmir mass movement, vice-chairman of JKLF Javid Ahmad Mir, Shahidul Islam of Awami action committee on the charges of violation of prohibitory orders in force in the city, official sources said.
The arrested included seven activists of Muslim Khawateen Markaz and two more women activists of mass movement, the sources said.
Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Realistic Front Hilal war and chairman of human rights forum Mohammad Ahsan Untoo were also taken into custody for similar reasons, the sources said.
JKLF again took out a protest march in the locality but police prevented them from proceeding towards adjoining Budshah Chowk, the sources said.
