Lucknow, Mar 26: Few people would want the shadow of 13 in their lives. But Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is actually asking for it.
The prime minister wants to file his nomination for parliamentary elections from his Lucknow constituency in Uttar Pradesh on April 13.

Vajpayee's poll managers finalised the date after consulting his astrologers who felt that coinciding with the harvest festival of Baisakhi, April 13, would be the ideal day for an auspicious task.

The number 13 is unlucky for many but for Vajpayee the figure has proved to be the most auspicious in his political career.

After spending long years in the opposition benches, Vajpayee became prime minister for the first time for 13 days in 1996. The next time in 1998 his prime ministerial stint lasted 13 months.
After a mid-term poll in 1999, the 13th Lok Sabha was formed and Vajpayee was invited to form the government for the third time on the 13th of the month.

Since the verdict of the coming elections is expected on May 13 when the votes are counted, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hopes it will herald a comeback for Vajpayee. Bureau Report
