Semarang (Indonesia), Dec 09: Indonesian researchers claim to have discovered a herb containing properties similar to those of Viagra. Prof Dr Susilo Wibowo, one of the researchers at Diponergoro State University, said yesterday that his team was seeking patent rights to the discovery. He said the team had already tried the herb, extracted from the leaves and roots of the 'Purwaceng' (Pimtinella Pruacen) plant on rats and would begin human trials in April. "The results of the experiment on rats so far have shown that the plant can indeed stimulate sexual desire," Susilo said. He said the team had also discovered that the roots of the Purwaceng plant were more potent than its leaves or flowers. The plant, originally found on the plateau of Mount Dieng in East Java, was now being cultivated on an experimental basis in the cool-climate districts of Kendal in Central Java and Cianjur, West Java.
