Kozhikode, July 04: The National Development Front will hold a statewide agitation on today protesting the suspension of rehabilitation works at Marad, NDF chairman, a Syed. "The Antony government has surrendered to the pressures of the Sangh Parivar and had failed to carry on the process of rehabilitation at Marad thereby leaving the displaced families of minority community in hardship", he told reporters here. Accusing the government of being biased on the issue, he said the front would also picket all the roads leading to Marad on July 11 and chalk out future course of action on the next day at its secretariat meet. "After inviting two of the displaced families back to their homes at Marad, the government failed to ensure security to them and the families had to leave the place owing to tension created in the area by fundamentalist forces", Syed said, adding it was unfortunate that even after two months, government could not restore peace in the area. Stating that stern action would be initiated against its volunteers if their involvement in the may two incident that claimed nine lives was established, Syed said the police had "foisted" cases against some of its workers.
