Fatehabad, May 11: Haryana Vikas Party supremo and former chief minister Bansi Lal today accused chief minister Om Prakash Chautala of promoting his family in the name of development in the state. "The only development the state has witnessed in Chautala's regime is furthering his (Chautala) and his family interests at the cost of common man," said Bansi Lal at a series of election rallies for the May 21 by-poll in this assembly constituency.
Urging the electorate to vote for his party candidate Parlahad Singh Gillkhera, he said that this was an opportune time to show doors to the Chautala government for its complete failure on all fronts.

Bansi Lal promised that if voted to power his government would withdraw the Value Added Tax (VAT) and house tax imposed by the Chautala regime.
The by-poll to the constituency was necessitated following the death of Lila Kishan of ruling Indian National Lokdal (INLD).
