Bangalore, July 11: RSS today said it would take a
position on Congress President Sonia Gandhi as prime
ministerial candidate when it becomes an "issue".
Asked by reporters here if Gandhi as Prime Minister would be acceptable for the RSS, its spokesman Ram Madhav initially said, "It's for the people to decide".
But he added, "It's not an issue now. When she (Gandhi)
is projected as Prime Minister, everybody will express their views".
Meanwhile, during the course of his remarks at the press conference, Madhav described Pope John Paul II as a "theocrat".
Commenting on the pope's reported accusation regarding Tamil Nadu's Anti-Conversion Law, Madhav strongly criticised pope's remarks, saying the law was enacted by a democratically elected government.
"It (Pope's comments) is a contradiction as it's made by somebody supposed to be a head of state and who is theocratic", Madhav said.
