Mumbai, Nov 25: One person died when a station transformer at Maharashtra State Electricity Board's 690 MW Parli Power Station, in Beed district, caught fire at around one am today. "The fire was extinguished at around six in the morning. One employee was admitted to a local hospital where he died due to suffocation (because of inhaling the smoke)", a MSEB spokesperson said here. However, the power supply remained unaffected due to the incident as only two sets of 30 MW were damaged while the other three of 210 mw each functioned normally, he said adding, one set of 30 mw would restart within 24 hours. Investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire would be conducted by the board, the spokesperson said.
