New Delhi, Aug 16: A meeting of NDA leaders, chaired by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, began this morning to chalk out the strategy to face the no-confidence motion to be moved by Congress in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
DMK leader and Environment Minister T R Baalu's presence
at the meeting was being considered significant in view of
BJP's decision to talk to AIADMK, its strong rival in Tamil
Nadu, for enlisting its support.
The AIADMK, in recent months, has been warming up to BJP and supportive of the saffron party on a number of ideological issues, including uniform civil code and legislation against conversion much to the disliking of the DMK.
The meeting at the Prime Minister's residence here is being attended among others by Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, NDA convener and Defence Minister George Fernandes, BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee. Bureau Report
