Baidpura (UP), June 29: Sachin Pilot, son of late Congress leader Rajesh Pilot, today joined the party's ranks and said it was set to regain its past glory through its young brigade. US-educated Sachin, who has been touring many areas of Uttar Pradesh, was participating in a rally here alongwith her mother and Congress MP Rama Pilot. Congress leaders Manmohan Singh, Ahmad Patel, Jagdambika Pal, Naval Kishore Sharma and Salman Khursheed were also present.

A statue of Rajesh Pilot was unveiled by Singh at village Baidpura - the birth place of the late Congress leader in Gautam Budh Nagar district.

Donning a traditional turban like that of his father's, Sachin exhorted the youth to follow the ideals and principles of communal harmony as practised by his father and urged them to defeat the designs of the "narrow-minded" politicians "who were polarising the society on caste and religious lines."

Speaking on the occasion, Singh lauded the role of Pilot in bringing transparency in the functioning of the government and the Congress while Sharma said the party would be strengthened by young leaders like Sachin.
