New Delhi, May 25: New Railway minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, who said safety of passengers would be his top priority, today called for a meeting of director generals of police and home secretaries of naxal-affected states to work out measures for the safe movement of trains in those areas. Yadav directed the Railway Board to convene the meeting and also to take steps for making rail tracks in these areas tamper-proof so as to ensure smooth rail services and uninterrupted movement of coal and other mineral products, an official release said. Addressing the first meeting of the board, Yadav suggested immediate action be taken to check carrying of gas cylinders and other inflammable objects in passenger trains in the interest of safety of passengers and railway property.
