After days of speculation, it has been finalised that Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf would stay at Oberoi group`s Amar Vilas while Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee would stay at Palace Hotel in Agra during the summit talks on July 15, official sources said on Tuesday.
The media briefings would take place at Mughal Sheraton, the sources said adding the hotels were finalised for the dignitaries by the Ministry of External Affairs after consultation with the visiting Pakistani team. Pakistani Chief of Protocol Khalid Habib, accompanied by Chief Security Officer Ilyas, had said that they had come to "coordinate and fine-tune" the programme of President Pervez Musharraf.
All the three-five star hotels - Oberoi`s newly built Amar Vilas, Jay Pee goups Palace Hotel and Welcome group`s Mughal Sheraton - are situated close to the magnificent Mughal monument "Taj Mahal." All the three hotel managements had said there was something special that would be announced by them once the decision of the Government about the hotel is known. The upcoming Amar Vilas, a hotel built by borrowing the best of architecture from various periods, would have a presidential suite and 25 rooms ready for the guests, its General Manager Rajesh Jhingon had told PTI. The presidential suite costs 2000 U.S. Dollars a night. The venue for the Vajpayee-Musharraf summit talks will in all likelihood be at the Jaypee Palace Hotel, the sources said. Bureau Report
