New Delhi, Aug 03: Ruling out any negotiations, either pre-bid or post-bid, National Thermal Power Corporation today said price bids for sourcing LNG for its proposed 2600 MW gas based power plants would be opened in October. "We are planning to open the price bids in October this year," NTPC Chairman and Managing Director C P Jain said while emphasising that there would be no negotiations with any supplier and the lowest bidder would be awarded the contract.
This has been made clear to all prospective bidders at a pre-bid conference held in May this year, he said.

NTPC has invited bids for sourcing three million tonnes of LNG/Natural Gas annually and about ten majors including multinational gas companies are in the race for supplying LNG to NTPC.
These companies are Shell, Petronet-LNG, Reliance, Petronas, TotalFinaElf, British Gas, Unocal Oman LNG and Ras Laffan among others.
"We are hopeful of getting supply of LNG at less than three dollars per tonne. This contract is being looked as setting a benchmark for market of LNG in India," Jain said.
The corporation has also decided to set up the gas-based projects only Kawas and Gandhar 1300 MW each while putting two locations of Anta and Auriya on hold due to paucity of water in the state of Rajasthan. Bureau Report
