Singapore, May 14: Mogg, whose company is involved in a further new 15 developments in China, said he believed the golf course development industry in China was in need of greater regulation.
"The golf industry, along with these other industries, in some ways was getting out of control," Mogg said.
"Every single local government, local town, they all wanted a golf course, they wanted an industrial park and they wanted a high-rise tower," he said.
"Hopefully what this means is the central government will be looking at demand and... Assessing things on their merits," he said.
Nevertheless Mogg insisted most golf courses across Asia had been built on "marginal" land.

"It's on reclaimed land (or land) that was being used before but is no longer being used for agriculture," he said, adding some of the focus should be directed at industrial parks which took up far more land than golf courses.
