Jaipur, May 18: The state unit of NCP today demanded that the Rajasthan government should spell out its terms of reference on the issue of reservation particularly for those castes, including Rajputs and Brahmins, who were left out in the other backward classes. The Gehlot government should come up with a permanent formula on reservation issue to avert any clash like BJP and Rajputs during Vasundhra Raje's 'parivartan yatra', Shriram Gotewala, its state president, told a press conference here.
In every caste, the youth were "frustrated" due to unemployment and reservation, hence it was the moral and social obligation of the state machinery to evolve a solution, he said. Criticising the policies of the Gehlot government, he demanded that the farmers should be given 12 hours of power every day in view of the famine and drought conditions.
He accused the Congress government of being insensitive towards public grievances and farmers situation. Alleging that the debt burden on the state exchequer has swollen to Rs 50,000 crores during the Congress rule, he urged the government to bring out a white paper on its economy and debt burden.
Gotewala, a former Congressman, said his party would launch an agitation if the demands being raised were not met soon. Bureau Report
