Surgical Strikes: Om Puri apologises, says not seeking forgiveness but punishment
I am not seeking forgiveness but punishment, says Om Puri over Surgical Strikes
New Delhi: It seems Om Puri's apology wasn't enough to calm down the masses. After drawing flak from all section for his 'outrageous' remark on Indian Army in context with surgical strikes carried out recently across the Line of Control (LoC), veteran actor has yet again expressed his regret on the issue.
According to reports in ANI, the 65-year-old actor was quoted as saying, ''Their (people) anger is justified, I am not seeking forgiveness but punishment.''
''Iska koi justification nahi hai, iska prayashith main ek constructive tareeke se karunga, main apni sazaa bhuktunga. I will personally go & apologise to the families of the martyrs, will ask them to punish me.'' the veteran actor added further.
Recently, in the aftermath of the surgical strikes carried out by Indian forces last week, the internet was flooded with outrageous tweets from across the nation and even the B-Town celebrities vented out their fury through their tweets and other mediums. Om Puri, who appeared as a guest on a chat show, had expressed his heart out.
''Did we force them to join the army? My father was also in the army... We are proud of them (soldiers)... I am asking you: Do you want India and Pakistan to become Israel and Palestine?," Puri had asserted then.
Shockingly, his comments didn't go well with the masses and he was ridiculed by his fellow industry mates like Anupam Kher, Asok Pandit to name a few, for allegedly 'disrespecting' the Indian Army.
Upset over Puri's remark, a Mumbai lawyer lodged a FIR against the 'Dirty Politics' actor.
