New Delhi, Aug 28: Refusing to accept that Pakistan was not involved in the recent Mumbai blasts, India today said Islamabad should understand that its proxy war would not be able to destabilise the country or alter its boundaries.
"The Mumbai blasts are the handiwork of Pakistan-based Jehadi groups. Such incidents will continue to take place till the epicentre of terrorism exists in our neighbourhood," minister of state for home I D Swami told reporters here on the sidelines of a function to celebrate the 33rd foundation day of Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D). "Pakistan should understand it will get nothing from such acts. It can neither destabilise our country nor alter the status of Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
Swami said such acts would "further damage" the cause of Pakistan which has already been isolated in the world because of support to terrorism.
When referred to Pakistan's condemnation of the Mumbai blasts, the minister said "it is double-speak and it has become a way of life for the establishments there."

"Not only US, nobody in the world believes" that it is not behind the act, he said.

Addressing the function, Swami said the Vajpayee government had raised from Rs 100 crore to Rs 1,000 allocation of funds for modernisation of police forces in the country and enable these to effectively meet the challenge of proxy war.

He also advocated changes in attitude and training in the police forces, saying government's image is linked to their performance.
