Shane Warne spun Australia to a crushing 246-run victory in the first Test as South Africa collapsed to 128 all out at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday Warne captured three for 57 on the fifth and final day to finish with eight wickets in the match and give Australia a 1-0 lead in the three-Test series.
Glenn McGrath ripped through the South African top order to finish with three for 13 while his fellow pacemen Jason Gillespie and Brett Lee each collected two scalps.
South Africa, chasing an improbable 375 for victory, resumed at 17 for two but were unable to salvage a draw as the last eight wickets tumbled for 111 runs on a deteriorating pitch.
The match was over six minutes before tea with South Africa's total of 128 their second lowest against Australia since they were readmitted to world cricket in 1992.
Only three South Africans made double figures with Jacques Kallis the only batsman to show any real resistance, surviving almost four hours to finish unbeaten on 65.
