Panaji, Oct 13: The defamation notice issued to four Goan newpapers was `intimidation to fall in line with the goverment', Rajya Sabha member from Goa, Eduardo Faleiro said here today. "If the notice is challenged in the court of law, it will invoke severest judicial strictures", Faleiro told reporters here alleging that the centre and the BJP-ruled states were doing the same thing. He alleged that the Goa Chief Minister was in the habit of making charges against his political opponents, `but did not like the opponents to clarify them'. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Manohar Parriker today diverted from the practice of briefing the press after the cabinet meet due to the fact that the Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) has decided to wear black badges whenever Parrikar addresses a press conference. The GUJ, to protest the defamation notice, has also organised a silent morcha tomorrow which will go through the main streets of the city and culminate into a meeting at Azad Maidan.
