Ahmedabad, June 26: At least two persons were injured after a “powerful device” went off inside a rented room located behind a mosque, police said. The blast was so powerful that it made hole in the roof of the room, they said Earlier, it appeared as if injured persons were inside the room when the blast occurred. However, senior police officials later said that it does not appear that anybody was present in the room as there were no blood stains.
The officials did not confirm how many persons were injured, but said that some injuries may have taken place when concrete slabs of the roof fell upon those sitting nearby.
Police are still groping for clues as to what triggered the powerful explosive device, the sources added.
The powerful “bomb” exploded in a minority dominated Vatva area at around 9.45 pm yesterday.
