New Delhi, Jan 14: Defence Minister George Fernandes, who had met with a car accident near Nalanda in Bihar, today underwent CT-scan and other investigations at the the Army's Specialist Research and Referral Hospital here. Fernandes, who arrived here by a special IAF aircraft, was driven straight to the hospital where after the tests a team of army doctors declared that he had not suffered any internal injury. The doctors, however, advised him "some rest" as Fernandes was "a little fatigued", sources close to the minister said.
The 73-year-old minister escaped with minor injuries in the head and legs when his car crashed into a stationary truck near Nagarnausa in Bihar's Nalanda district due to poor visibility. Later at Danapur station, Fernades ruled out any conspiracy behind the incident. About the mishap, he said he thought "everything was over" when his head banged against the dashboard with a thud. The seat belt was not operational. The minister had complained of headache and pain in the legs.
