Dehradun, July 05: Aiming to equip state government employees with the latest technology, Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari today launched a special scheme under which loans would be provided to those interested in buying computers. The "Project Gyanotkarsh" (apogee of knowledge) being undertaken jointly by government of Uttaranchal and State Bank of India, would cover all the officers, employees and teachers of the state, Tiwari said after launching the scheme at state level banker's meet here. An MoU has also been signed between the state government and SBI in this regard, he said adding this scheme will benefit particularly those employees who cannot spend Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 in one stroke.

Under the scheme, any employee, who has a salary of more than Rs 6000 per month, can go to any branch of the State Bank of India to obtain a loan for purchase of computers at an interest rate of 10.25 per cent. Bureau Report
