Ajmer, July 24: A local court hearing the trident
ban violation case against VHP leader Praveen Togadia today
gave prosecution 35 more days to complete investigation and
file a chargesheet and fixed the next hearing for August 27.
On a prosecution plea seeking 45 more days, Additional
Chief Judicial Magistrate Indu Pareek, granted it 35 days for
completing the probe and filing chargesheet.
The court also granted leave of absence for the day to
Togadia after his counsel moved an application saying the VHP
leader could not be present in the court following a busy
schedule at Alwar.
As the court assembled, the prosecution filed a petition seeking more time to complete investigation saying one co-accused Bhagwati Prasad Sarswat, who was on interim bail in another case, had to be probed.
During the last hearing on June 19, the court had granted 45 days to the prosecution to complete probe and file chargesheet. Togadia has been charged under various sections of IPC and arms act for violating the ban on distribution of tridents in Rajasthan and giving inflamatory speeches during a VHP function in Ajmer.
