Jerusalem, Oct 19: Four Israeli soldiers were wounded when the bomb they were placing at the front door of a Palestinian's home to force it open went off prematurely, the army and Palestinian witnesses said.
The army was arresting Palestinians they said were wanted by Israel's security service, most of the arrests took place in Balata refugee camp east of Nablus.
The soldiers had been trying to enter the home of Amir Thoqan, who was not at home, according to his brother Sharif, who was inside the house at the time. One soldier was moderately injured three were lightly injured, the army said. They were evacuated shortly afterwards.


The front doors of fifteen houses were damaged by explosions, residents in the camp said.
Altogether, the army arrested eight Palestinians, four in Balata, one in Beit Furik south of Nablus and three others near Ramallah.


While the people of the western half of Nablus were allowed to move freely today the eastern half -- some 60,000 people, remained under curfew.
Israeli troops withdrew from Jenin today after digging a six-foot trench around part of the west bank town in an attempt to keep would-be bombers from slipping out in cars.
