Tirupati, Oct 05: Over 60,000 devotees from all over the country had a holy dip in the temple tank near the Lord Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala here on the concluding day of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam festival today. As part of the concluding day, called 'chakra snanam day', the senior priests, amidst chanting of Vedic hymns, conducted 'celestial' bath to the centuries old 'vishnu chakram' in the tank. At that auspicious moment, thousands of devotees had a holy dip.
Two incidents marred the festivities, which began on September 27...The first was a landmine blast on October 01, in which Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was injured when he was on his way to the temple and the second was a stampede at midnight on the same day in which at least 20 devotees were injured.
