A C-130 US military aircraft landed at Palam airport on Friday on a routine mission to take American embassy personnel on rotation duty and left for Thailand after a brief halt. An American embassy spokesman said that the aircraft, based in Japan and transiting through Thailand, was on a routine mission to transport US personnel. In September days, after the terror strikes in the US, landing of a C-130 aircraft in New Delhi had created a flutter raising speculation of Indian bases being used for US-led operations in Afghanistan. Both the US embassy and the Indian government had quickly set the record straight stating that the aircraft had only transported six military personnel for duty at the American mission in New Delhi and left for Singapore after refuelling.
