Want people to notice the actress in me: Gauhar Khan
Gauhar appeared in the 2009 Ranbir Kapoor starrer `Rocket Singh: Salesman of the year` and went on to act in `Ishaqzaade`.
Mumbai: She made her big screen debut almost six years ago but Gauhar Khan says filmmakers still have not tapped her full potential as an actress.
Gauhar appeared in the 2009 Ranbir Kapoor starrer "Rocket Singh: Salesman of the year" and went on to act in "Ishaqzaade".
Her performances in both the films was appreciated despite Gauhar not being in the lead role.
The actress, however, will be now seen in her first leading role in the upcoming thriller "Fever".
"Yes, directors haven't tapped my full potential yet. I am glad that now with 'Fever' releasing, people will sit back and take notice of the actress in me. I want them to know that 'yes she can perform,'" Gauhar told PTI.
Written and directed by Rajeev Jhaveri, the suspense- thriller also stars Rajeev Khandelwal along with British actress Gemma Atkinson and Former Bond Girl Caterina Murino.
Gauhar says she was approached for the film before she won the reality show "Bigg Boss" season seven and though she is excited for her first lead role, the length of character's screen time does not matter.
"I was approached for this before Big Boss. The character was something every actor would love to perform. I immediately said yes for the role. I am excited for my first lead role.
"But I do feel, lead or not, I should be impactful. It should be a role that people remember. Like 'Ishqzaade', 'Rocket Singh'. My performance should matter and not the length of my role."
The 32-year-old actress, who has featured in several item numbers, is happy with the way her career is going and is especially thrilled to work with Vidya Balan in "Begum Jaan".
"My career has taken great many turns. I've done two films with Yash Raj, one with Excel, Balaji, and even Vishesh Films. In ten days, I am leaving for 'Begum Jaan'. I am extremely excited that now I am working in great films. It has been my dream to work with Vidya."
