New Delhi, July 18: India is expecting a healthy 13-14 per growth in exports in the first quarter of this year with sectors like textiles, basic chemcials, engineering, gems putting up an impressive performance, L Mansingh, director general of foreign trade, said on Friday. He also said he was confident that the country would be able to achieve one per cent of global exports well before 2007.
"Exports are showing healthy sign. We are expecting 13-14 per cent growth in April-June 2003 as against corresponding period in previous year," Mansingh told reporters on the sidelines of a seminar organised by Federation of Indian Exporters Organisation.

Though the provisional figures were yet to come, Mansingh said his estimates were based on daily monitoring done by the DGFT.
He said his estimate was based on good performance trend in exports of manufactuing and high value-addition exports in the sectors including textiles, pharmaceuticals, jewelry, gems, basic chemicals, engineering, auto ancillary and automobiles.
"Barring plantation sector, the other sectors have been doing well with some sectors even leading by 20-27 per cent growth," he said. Bureau Report
