New Delhi, May 13: Centre has convened a meeting of culture ministers of states and union territories today to discuss the desirability of a legislation for the maintenance and management of shrines and religious places. The one-day meet would also review various cultural and heritage projects of national importance.

The meeting among other things discuss measures to improve local museums, Buddhist institutions and pension to artists. Initiatives to preserve cultural heritage of Himalayas, state's contributions to zonal cultural centres and construction of multi purpose cultural complexes and role of STTEs in National Mission for Manuscripts are other important items on the agenda of the meeting, an official release said today.
