England, June 18: Frank Bruno has formally applied for the reinstatement of his boxing licence. The Southern Area Council confirmed to the BBC Sport website that the 41-year-old had enquired about having the licence he held between 1982 and 1995 reinstated.
If the authority approve his application, it will be then submitted to the British Boxing Board of Control, who will have the final say as to whether Bruno is allowed to box again.
"We can't consider the matter any further until we receive further documentation," said Southern Area head Robert Smith.
That documentation is sure to deal with the condition of Bruno's eyes - the former WBC heavyweight champion suffered a detached retina while fighting.

Bruno stated earlier this year that he wanted to return to the ring and fight Audley Harrison.
