New Delhi, Dec 11: Government today said it will soon introduce a Cantonment Act 2003 in Parliament, envisaging reservation for women on cantonment boards and will refer it to a parliamentary standing committee. The new bill was cleared by the Union Cabinet in its meeting last night, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said here today.
Also, the Citizenship Act will be reintroduced with recommendations on persons of Indian origin made by the parliamentary standing committee, she said adding the amended Indian Council of World Affairs Bill will also be introduced in Parliament.
"The Indian Council of World Affairs bill was passed by the Lok Sabha earlier but when it was introduced in the upper house, Congress made a number of suggestions which the External Affairs Minister accepted. These have now been incorporated in the amended bill," Swaraj said.
Thus, the bill will now first be introduced in the Rajya Sabha and then go back to the lower House.
