New Delhi, May 03: Giving a new spin to the Exit
Polls predicting a hung Lok Sabha, Deputy Prime Minister L K
Advani today said the projections had made it imperative for
the voter to choose between stability under Atal Bihari
Vajpayee and instability.
"The Exit Poll results have made the choice very clear
before the voter. It is either a stable government under Atal
Bihar Vajpayee or instability," he said.
Addressing a well-attended rally at Najafgarh in support
of the BJP candidate from outer-Delhi constituency Sahib Singh
Verma, Advani accused Congress of being responsible for lack
of development in the country.
He said this was for the first time in the country's political history that development had become a poll-issue.
Claiming that all sections of the society have lauded the Vajpayee government's achievements, Advani said "people have now started realising that they should keep in mind issue of development while voting for any party".
Advani said even if BJP gets majority on its own, the NDA would form the government as it represents the entire nation.
The deputy prime minister said Vajpayee was more popular now unlike in 1998-99 when his administrative skills were untested.
Recalling the dark days of emergency imposed by the then Congress government, Advani said not even the British may have thought of the kind of censorship imposed then.
However, democracy in the country had by then matured enough that the people rejected congress in the 1977 polls, he said.
