Kolkata, Mar 26: The team of the CID officials have reached Shanti Niketan to probe the missing of Nobel Prize won by legendary Rabindra Nath Tagore for ‘Geetanjali’ and ‘The Guardian’. West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee ordered a CID inquiry into the incident yesterday. Bhattacharjee described it as a `catastrophy` and asked the Director General of Police to immediately send a team to Shanti Niketan.
The Chief Minister also demanded a first hand report from the Vice Chancellor of Vishwa Bharti University. The police hasn’t been able to find any clue in the case so far.
In a shocking incident that sent tremors in the entire literary society and people of Kolkata, the much appreciated Nobel prize won by Rabindra Nath Tagore for ‘Geetanjali’ was stolen from Shanti Niketan yesterday by unidentified men.
While revealing this information to the media persons, Sujeet Kumar Basu, the Vice-Chancellor of Vishwa Bharti University said that the entire staff is shocked at this incident. The museum has been sealed by the police who is investigating into this matter.
While reacting to this shameful incident, Dr Gopichand Narang, president of Sahitya Academy called it a major blow to the prestige of the entire nation and especially the literary society. He said that this Nobel Prize was the honour to the country and government and police should work together to find the culprits and punish them.
